GREEN VALLEY RANCH LIBRARY

DENVER, COLORADO

The Green Valley Ranch Library is the first facility in the Denver Public Library District designed to support a “Family Style” program.  This 26,000 square foot library exemplifies this concept with a Library program that includes quiet reading zones, areas for study, research, exploration and socialization.  Humphries Poli Architects and the landscape architect's design collaboration extended this program and mission to the site plan.  The building and the parking were sited to consolidate the landscape area. This elevated the importance of the site program and created opportunity to more successfully extend the building’s program to the site.  The design provides areas for reading, study, research and socialization.

The form and character of the landscape design were inspired by Colorado’s high plains and agricultural landscapes also utilizing a xeric plant palette, storm water management that is integrated within the design, dark sky lighting technology and water conserving irrigation system.
